Some years ago, the Château of Versailles, in France allowed people to adopt statues in the gardens of Versailles. The adoption means sending money and sponsoring the restoration of the statue. Then, a small plaque with your name is put at the foot of the statue to thank you.
This system permitted to save 86 statues in 4 years.
There are 170 benches in the gardens of Versailles, 92 are made of marble, 78 are made of stone.
To restore a bench, 3 800 euros are needed.
To begin, 50 benches are offered to adoption, among which 15 are made of stone.
Would' nt you like to have your name on a plaque in the gardens of Versailles?....

Very nice but 3,800 euros is a lot of money but I expect there are enough rich people around who will want to adopt a bench in such a splendid location.
That is a terrific idea! If I had the money I would jump at it immediately, but as Gerald says above, 3800 Euros is a lot of money. Maybe I could stretch it to a leg, but then the plaque would the size of a stamp. However, it would be an excuse to visit Versailles!
PS Thank you for the comment :-)
Thanks, but your beautiful bench in the banner is more my style.
Good idea, though, to adopt a bench by financially "supporting" it.
I just posted two humble benches.
Shalom to you.
An interesting idea. If I had that much to give away, I would just buy several new benches. If you take a photo of each bench, you will be there all day but have many to post! Ü
I clicked a different button on my camera and the photos were all there so am now down to perusing about the last 400 photos and will blog again shortly. I did put up a photo on my big blog (Just Paulie) and Katney identified it.
